Description
This year’s Bay Medical Foundation’s Annual Charity Auction hopes to rally the community with its spin on the 1970s hit TV show, M*A*S*H, which the hospital has revised to stand for Manikin Ambulatory Simulated Hero, reflective of this year’s fundraising focus. In addition to the silent and live auction, other features of the April 22, 2010 event include a raffle to win a trip to Paris, France and a Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament.
The hospital is undertaking an ambitious program to establish a medical simulation manikin lab along with e-learning software to help train its nurses, resident physicians, therapists, and other clinical staff, in a realistic, challenging, and safe setting. The lab would house the manikins, which are life-like reproductions of the human body. The manikins cry, voice pain, secrete various fluids, and respond to drug interactions. “Using simulation will allow our nurses to improve cognitive, psychomotor and behavioral skills, as well as enhance team performance,” said Ellen Talbott, BRMC’s Vice President of Patient Care Services. Thomas Reeths, DO, Medical Director of the hospital’s Graduate Medical Education Intern/Resident program, also noted that “simulation will provide our residents with state-of-the-art medical science coupled with educational efficiency, improving critical thinking skills and self confidence.”
Two Bay area hospital-based fundraising entities, Bay Regional Medical Center Auxiliary and Bay Medical Foundation, will co-sponsor the function. The M*A*S*H Charity Auction will be held on Thursday, April 22, 2010 from 5 – 10 p.m. at the DoubleTree Hotel, downtown Bay City. Auction ticket price is $50 and includes buffet and open bar. Tickets will be available at the following locations approximately mid-February:

* “Win a Trip for Two to Paris France” Raffle (6 nights, valued at $4,000), courtesy of AAA Michigan, Dr. Bassam Daghman, Bay Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, Firehouse Soft Wash, and MCI Insurance. Also up for raffle are a Panasonic 50” flat screen TV and $350 in cash. Raffle ticket prices are one ticket for $10 or 3 tickets for $25.
