After merging four hospitals during the 1970s and 1980s, McLaren-Bay Region developed a full continuum of health services for Northeast Michigan. With acute care at McLaren-Bay Region: Main Campus and McLaren-Bay Special Care on the West Campus, home health services, medical equipment, pharmacy, women's health and rehabilitation services, more than 2,000 McLaren-Bay Region employees provide quality care to nearly a half million people in East Michigan.

- McLaren-Bay Region earned Center of Excellence status from Blue Cross/Blue Shield for Cardiac Care
- McLaren-Bay Region earned Center of Excellence status from Blue Cross/Blue Shield for Cardiac Surgery
June 2009
- McLaren-Bay Region earned "Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval"
August 2009
- McLaren-Bay Region earned the Award for Excellence for "Outstanding Performance on tPA Administration and Smoking Cessation Counseling from the Michigan Department of Community Health and the Michigan Stroke Registry and Quality Improvement Program (MiSRQIP)
- McLaren-Bay Region earned re-certification from JCAHO as Primary Stroke Center.
- McLaren-Bay Region Inpatient Rehabilitation earned Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) re-accreditation.
- McLaren-Bay Region's Cardiac Rehabilitation earned re-accreditation.
September 2009
- McLaren-Bay Special Care received the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce 2009 "On the Go" award, which showcases economic development opportunities in the Bay Area and recognizes businesses making significant developments
March 2010
- McLaren-Bay Region was awarded the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce's "Family Friendly Employer Award".

- McLaren-Bay Region’s Oncology Program is approved by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer as a Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Program, the highest level attainable by a community hospital.
- President’s Award from the American Association for Cancer Education for McLaren-Bay Region’s Colorectal Cancer Screening Program with McLaren Cancer Institute
- Five Star Community Award from the American Cancer Society (Four consecutive years)
- Five Star Community Investor Award from the American Cancer Society (Four consecutive years)
- Oncology Nurse Certification is the highest in the area.
- Obstetrics and Women’s Health Nurses: Winners of the Johnson & Johnson Award of Excellence
- The Laboratory has earned Professional Research Consultants’ 2004 National Customer Service Award
- Five nurses from the 3-West Pediatrics Department earned certification from the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board. McLaren-Bay Region is the fourth hospital in Michigan to reach this level of certification.
- McLaren-Bay Region is designated as a Neuroscience Center of Excellence (COE), according to the 2006 Neuroscience Center of Excellence Survey, co-sponsored by NeuroSource, Inc., Chicago, IL and HealthTech, San Francisco, CA.
- American Heart Association - American Heart and Stroke Heroes Day: Community Education and Awareness Award
- McLaren-Bay Region supports the community and our service area with free or low -cost screenings, health information on the web, health fairs, expos, and donations.
- Major supporter of Bay Arenac Intermediate School District Imagination Library
- Major supporter of East Shoreline Red Cross for First Responder Training
- Free or Low Cost EMS Coverage for All Major Community Events.
- Free VIALS OF LIFE for area citizens.
- Provider of Helen M. Nickless Volunteer Clinic, serving the uninsured and underinsured in Bay County with free primary medical care, referrals for testing, and follow up care.
